If I’ve Got Me

Some people fight for the glory,
Some people fight just for a name,
Some battle over power, yeah,
Some only play a ruthless game.
Some people think
That wealth and might
Can shield them from the pain,
But I have seen
The cost within,
And nothing stays the same.
Some people want to rule,
But I won’t bow to any throne,
If I’ve got strength within me,
I can rise up on my own.
Some people chase destruction,
Some just fight for greed,
But all of it means nothing,
If we don’t plant the seed.
Some people search for a weapon,
Thinking steel will make them strong,
Some build walls to keep out voices,
Ignoring those they've wronged.
Hand me the world
On a silver plate,
But what good would it be?
If justice dies,
And freedom cries,
And none of us are free?
Some people want to rule,
But I won’t bow to any throne,
If I’ve got truth inside me,
I can stand up on my own.
Some people crave destruction,
Some just fight for greed,
But all of it means nothing,
If we don’t plant the seed.
If I’ve got will to rise again,
No battle is in vain,
No war can steal the fire inside,
Through struggle, we remain.
Nothing in this whole wide world
Means a thing to me,
If we don’t break the chains,
If we don’t set us free.
This piece is deeply inspired by Alicia Keys’ iconic song “If I Ain’t Got You.” While her lyrics speak to love, this version channels that soul-stirring energy into a battle cry for resilience, justice, and inner strength.
